Ahhh, Valentine’s
Day – the day where we are given leave to spend hours gazing lovingly into our
lover’s eyes. It is true when they say that eyes are the
windows to your soul – they are also the looking glass of good health and
vitality.
Bambi eyes
are never out of style (and neither is good health!), so there are a few simple
things you can do to create the illusion of brighter, bigger eyes.
Thou
shalt use an eye cream: Or gel. Or oil. The fact is that your eyes do not have may sebaceous (oil-producing)
glands and in our treacherous climate can be prone to dryness. Keeping them
well hydrated reduces the appearance of fine lines, and keeps the skin around
the eyes looking fresh.
Keep
your whites white:
As we age the membrane of our eyes can become discoloured, giving them a yellow
tinge. Make sure that you have a balanced, plant-based diet, lots of vitamin A,
riboflavin, and anti-oxidants. Avoid eye strain (hours on the computer, reading
in a dim light), and make sure you sleep well! When swimming in chlorinated
water use goggles, and try not to open your eyes underwater at the beach.
Bags: Bags, puffy puffs, droopy droops,
dark ringydings – either you are tired or unhealthy! Support your liver, do a
professionally recommended liver cleanse or detox. Daily facial massage will
also help circulation, moving along any stagnant energy in the face. You may
want to consider taking some eyebright (or bathing your eyes in it), or the old
fave, press cold black teabags onto your eyes for a few minutes upon waking.
Finalmente:
It needn’t be complicated. For a natural, wide-eyed look here are some basics
- Get your eyebrows shaped by a
professional. It is amazing to see how a proper shape can give the
illusion of larger, wide-set eyes.
- Use a rim-liner. I don’t go
without lining the inner lower rim of my eyes with a cream eye pencil (you
can go a light pink or silver too if you want). This brightens your eyes.
Try Musq Precious Metals in Silver.
- Rim the top lid. Using a black
eye pencil, line the inner top rim of your lid. This creates a thicker
looking lash line. Add a flirty flick on the outer corners to elongate the
eye. Our pick is Eles Powder Mineral Liner in Coal.
- Use a shimmer. Dab a small
amount of shimmery eye colour in the inner corner of your eyes. This will
pick up the light and reflect it, making your eyes appear bigger and
healthier. Colores MultiPurpose Pwder in Champagne Shimmer suits both warm
and cool skin tones.
- Lash out. Use a eyelash curler
is you want (I don’t bother) and you can apply mascara in two ways for two
different looks. Normally coat all the lashes, wriggling from the base of
the lash up and out to the tip, creating a wide-eyed, bambi look, or
concentrate application to the outer third lashes, wriggling and flicking
the mascara out to the side, creating a feline, cat-that’s-got-the-cream
look. We like Vani-T Mineral Lash in Black.
Add a slick
of gloss and bat those lashes!

She looks gorgeous.. Thanks for the pointers.
