I was worried that the Healthy Skin Diet would simply be a day-by-day diary of recipes that would be expensive and time consuming to produce, but this is not a “diet” book in that sense. It is a holistic examination of what we can do and improve in our daily lives to have optimal skin health. Karen is, first and foremost, a qualified nutritionist, and her approach is non-elitist, meaning that ANYONE can use these basic principles to improve their skin’s condition.
The book is easy to follow, and without going into too much scientific jargon explains quite simply which foods and what kind of habits can help improve (perhaps even abolish) the most problematic skin conditions, such as eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, and (my fave) cellulite.
It is an empowering reference book that puts you in the driver’s seat. It doesn’t have the same old drivel (drink water, eat salmon etc) that you read umpteen times in magazines either; it is a proactive and simple approach that makes you very aware of how important diet is for your skin’s health.
The cover of the book states “Your complete guide to beautiful skin in only 8 weeks”. I read the book, became better educated, and after just 3 weeks of simply making better food choices I have had a stream of compliments about my skin (which was sensitive, prone to pimples, a little ashen, and quite oily). I feel like it glows!
I highly
recommend this book. Forget spending big on some wonder serum. Get this book,
get educated, and your skin will thank you for it.
