The warmer
months aren’t really the time to be high-maintenance. There is too much to do.
Go to the beach, go hiking, eat ice cream, go to the beach, laugh, play, live
life etc (I’ve left our working because that would just bring you down…oops,
sorry). But for the sake of feeling gorgeous, here are the eco-basics to
getting a daytime fabulous face.
- Sunscreen – There are a zillion
on the market, but one with a tint is always a bonus so you can get some coverage, but still let your skin shine through. Mukti’s Tinted Moisturiser SPF 15 is great; it absorbs well and
doesn’t feel greasy. Plus it is certified organic!
- Bronze thyself – A light
dusting of bronzer over the top of forehead, cheeks and bridge of nose
will help set your sunscreen and give you a Miranda Kerr vibe i.e: outdoorsy
and fun and glowy! Vani-T’s Boheme Bronzer is a non-comodegenic mineral
bronzer that looks unreal, not at all orange, and even has a rose-gold
section to swipe on the tops of your cheekbones for extra definition!
- Bright eyes – Give your eyes a
bit of a pop like Leighton Meester with three simple items. Black/brown eyeliner (try Inika’s Black
Mineral Eyeliner) to thicken the outer top corner of your eye, making your
outer eyelashes seem thicker in a Bambi kind of way. White liner (we love
Livinia’s White Eye) for the inner rim of your bottom lid, making your
eyes appear bigger, brighter and fresher. Finally, mascara. I always go
for a natural mascara like Suvana’s Bio-Lash in Cleopatra, mostly because
I can’t handle having toxic chemicals poked into my eye. SECRET: If you
just swipe mascara on the outer corner lashes you will get a foxy
almond-eye effect which is tres Angelina Jolie and very cool.
- Popped-up pout – Matt lipstick
is on trend this season, and for a natural yet definite pop of colour I
would recommend Jasmin in Violet Veil. It looks great on all skin tones, and it really freshens your face and emphasizes a sun-kissed visage.
Plus, it’s certified organic! If you don’t like the matt look, slick on
some paw paw ointment after application and she’ll be right ;)
- Care for your hair - Being a hair freak (that is I
love hair, not that I am a yeti or anything) look after your tresses with
a few spritzes of a leave in conditioner or a hair protectant. If you are
on a budget, you can squeeze a dollop of your regular conditioner into a
spray bottle with some water, shake well and spritz on the ends of your
hair, or try MiEssence B5 Hair Repair spray, which is certified organic,
full of hair-healing ingredients, and perfect for the beach.
Very
simple, low-key and natural, yet everyone will wonder why you look so healthy
and fantastic. It only takes about 5 minutes to do, which leaves you with more
time to seize the gorgeous spring day. Yay!
